Thanksgiving 2002
And God is able to make all
grace Beloved Spiritual Partners, We are told in the Holy Scriptures “In everything give thanks”. We do this by blessing every experience that comes into our lives. We do this in sickness and in health, in plenty and in the appearance of scarcity, in spiritual knowing and moments of uncertainty. We do this as we arise in the morning and the last moment before falling asleep. As we spiritualize our experience a higher vibratory frequency is realized and we are irresistibly drawn to the next level of knowledge and wisdom. An Eastern Monarch long ago had twin sons. There was some confusion as to, which was born first and as a consequence the king had to find an equitable way in which one could be designated the crown prince. All that knew the young men thought them to be of equal intelligence, wisdom, personal charm and physical strength, so there was no obvious way to determine which had the more kingly talent. However, the king thought he observed a very subtle difference between the two, so to be absolutely fair, he decided to put them to a test. Calling them into his council chamber one day, he said, “My sons, the day will come when one of you must succeed me as king. The burdens of sovereignty are very heavy. To find out which of you is better able to bear them cheerfully, I Am sending you together to a far corner of the kingdom. There one of my advisors will place equal burdens upon your shoulders. My crown will go to the one who returns bearing the burden as it should be borne.” In a spirit of friendly competition, the brothers set out together. Soon they overtook an aged woman struggling under a burden far too heavy for her frail body. One of the youths suggested that they stop and help her. The other protested, “We have a burden of our own to be about-let us be on our way!” The objector hurried on while the other stayed behind to give aid to the woman. Along the way from day to day, he found others who needed help. A blind man took him miles out of his way; a lame man slowed him to a cripple’s walk, and an ailing child slowed him even more as he carried him some distance. Eventually he did reach his father’s advisor in the far corner of the kingdom, where he secured his own burden. It was so heavy he could hardly lift it; however, he started home with it securely upon his shoulders. When he arrived at the palace gate he found his brother waiting with a dismayed expression, saying, “I don’t understand. I told father the burden was far to heavy to carry. How did you ever do it?” The future king replied thoughtfully, “I suppose each time I stopped to help others carry their burdens, I developed the strength to carry my own.” How? Simply because the love of humanity expressing so strongly through the one twin demanded that he lift up the weak and needy, and in so doing he gained the strength to carry his own burden. This story contains a great lesson for each of us. It demonstrates how through love, we can attain the Kingdom, Little by Little, Step by Step, Discipline by Discipline, we Rise to meet the demands of The Moment. A verse written long ago perfectly expresses this truth: For who upon the hearth can start a fire, and never warm the stone? Or who can cheer another’s heart, and not his own? I stilled a hungry infant’s cry; with kindness filled a stranger’s cup, And lifting others, found – that I too, was lifted up! It has been said, “God’s chosen one is the one who chooses God.” I want you to know that God Chose y0u! Thank you for being a part of Innerfaith Ministries Worldwide, a Divine Idea in the Mind of God whose time is come! I look forward to seeing you at our Thanksgiving Eve Celebration at the Paul Newman Theater in the Stroke Center on 2800 E Alejo in Palm Springs, at 7:00 PM!
